As the first community built around a country club, Desert Highlands is a spectacular enclave that’s close enough to all the amenities Scottsdale has to offer – and it’s never lost its charming community feel. If you’re thinking about buying a home for sale in Desert Highlands, here’s what you need to know.
About Desert Highlands
Desert Highlands has been rated among the top 3 percent by Platinum Clubs of America. This masterfully designed community is home to a championship golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus’ development group. The par-72, 18-hole course features turf, which is ideal for its terrain, and measures a total of 7,108 yards. Membership in the club is only available to residents (and it’s automatic with property ownership).
Members of Desert Highlands have access to all the amenities the club has to offer, including its:
- 7,000-square-foot fitness and wellness center
- Swimming pool
- Clubhouse restaurant
- Grass and hard-surface tennis courts
- Golf course and putting course
- Racquet club
- Dog park
- Guard-gated entry and security patrol
- Year-round social event calendar that includes celebrated wine tastings, culinary demonstrations and more
The membership fee, which is $75,000, is payable upon the purchase of a home or home site in Desert Highlands. As of 2019, the monthly dues and homeowners association fee is $1,275. The course and community have been recognized by Arizona Foothills Magazine, Golfweek and Golf Digest as among the most prestigious in the nation.
Custom Homes for Sale in Desert Highlands
Most of the homes in Desert Highlands are custom builds, but there are two semi-custom neighborhoods in the community (The Heights and Hillside Villa Estates). Custom homes are regularly built in the community, and there are still lots available for purchase, as well. There are a total of 560 home sites spanning 850 beautiful acres – but half the community is designed to remain undeveloped to preserve the natural landscape.
About the Community
Desert Highlands offers spectacular views of Pinnacle Peak, and it’s close to all the amenities you need. Just outside the gate, you’ll find shops, restaurants, medical facilities and banking institutions, as well as a variety of local, national and international businesses. It’s also close to Scottsdale’s famed Old Town, the cultural district and the area’s sports arenas.
