The community of Terravita, derived from the Latin “terra”, meaning earth or land, and “vita”, meaning life, is as in-tune with its desert surroundings as its name suggests. In addition to the use of materials that blend with Terravita’s natural surroundings, most homes have been built in such a way that they have beautiful golf course, desert or mountain views. Terravita residents are also able to enjoy the community’s 7 miles of walking trails – many link to Terravita’s various communities and to the Clubhouse. One of the most popular trails, Nature Trail, circles 2 miles of the Sonoran Desert.
Developed between 1993 and 1998 by Del Webb, Terravita is an 823 acre, 24-hour guard-gated golf community. Divided into 23 neighborhoods, the area is home to 1,380 residences. Single-story homes range in size from 1,407 – 3,730 square feet.
Terravita Golf and Country Club
Terravita’s 18-hole golf course was designed by Greg Nash and Billy Casper. Because the course has 9 tee combinations, the green ranges in yardages from 5,283-7,075 and has slopes of 121-141. The course also has a two-way driving range, a chipping green, a putting green and a pro-shop. The 35,000 square foot Terravita Clubhouse is where most Terravita residents dine, socialize and exercise. With a number of dining options, outdoor terraces, a lap pool, a fitness center and 6 tennis courts, there’s something for every member to enjoy.
Most school-aged children living in the Terravita community attend these schools in the Cave Creek Unified School District: Black Mountain Elementary School, Sonoran Trails Middle School and Cactus Shadows High School.
