Should You Buy a Golf Course Home in Scottsdale?

Should You Buy a Golf Course Home in Scottsdale - The Matheson Group
If you’re searching for a new house, you know that there are plenty of golf course homes for sale in Scottsdale – but is golf course living right for you?

Should You Buy a Golf Course Home?

Buying a golf course home in Scottsdale could be a great investment – but statistically, many of the people who buy homes that back up to courses don’t actually play. The idea, for many of these people, is to live in a private community with beautiful scenery and perfectly manicured views. Typically, golf course homes surround an area’s most prestigious courses, which means they’re in some of the most sought-after neighborhoods.
Scottsdale’s full of great courses, including Ancala, DC Ranch, Estancia and Legend Trail, so you have several options if you’re looking for a golf course home.
So how do you know if living on a golf course is the right choice for your future? For most people, it’s about location, amenities and whether you actually play the sport.

Location

When you buy a golf course home, location refers to more than just the neighborhood – it refers to your location on the course, too. There are advantages to each location:

  • By a tee: You get to watch golfers hit their best shots.
  • Mid-hole, to the right: Great views.
  • Near the green: People make shorter shots near the green, so the possibility of an errant ball is lower – and talking is quieter, too.

Amenities

Some golf course communities come with membership – or at least discounted membership – to the courses they include. You’ll find great country club amenities at each of the courses here in Scottsdale, but some communities have amenities in the neighborhoods as well, such as running trails, community pools and playgrounds.

Golf

If you don’t play golf, you may not enjoy watching what happens on the course from your home. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t join the club and enjoy the amenities it offers. Plus, many golf course communities are highly rated by residents because they’re private and exceptionally well-maintained.

Should You Buy a Home on a Golf Course in Scottsdale?

Ultimately, whether you buy a golf course home or one in a luxury neighborhood – or one in a golf course community that’s located well away from the course itself – is a personal decision. It’s usually a good idea to talk to your Realtor® about what type of home you want and explore your available options from there.
