September 2019 Golf Events in and Around Scottsdale
The most notable events coming up this month are:
- Talking Stick Resort Amateur Golf Championship (September 8)
- How’s My Driving Golf Tournament (September 14)
- 33rd Annual PRAC Golf Tournament (September 14)
- Dog Days of Summer Golf Classic (September 20)
- Arizona Grand Golf & Grow Tournament (September 27)
Here’s a closer look at each.
Talking Stick Resort Amateur Golf Championship (September 9 through September 11)
The Talking Stick Resort Amateur Golf Championship is a three-day event that includes six flights. Scoring follows a net stroke play tournament format, and players will be designated according to their established handicap. Every day after golf, there are exclusive events at the Talking Stick Resort for players, as well.
How’s My Driving Golf Tournament (September 14)
The How’s My Driving Golf Tournament at Gainey Ranch is hosted by the Police Officers of Scottsdale Association with proceeds going to the organization’s outreach services for people in need. The Police Officers of Scottsdale Association also hosts other events, but the golf tournament is one of the most fun – and there’s more than golf. Games and contests are scattered throughout the course, including a golf cart obstacle course between then 9th and 10th holes.
33rd Annual PRAC Golf Tournament (September 14)
The 33rd annual PRAC Golf Tournament benefits the Phoenix Rugby Club with part of the proceeds going to VFW Post 3513 and the Jaxson Nichol Scholarship Fund. The tournament has a 7 a.m. shotgun start, just after the putting contest at 6:30 a.m., and offers prizes for tournament winners, the person closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt.
Dog Days of Summer Golf Classic (September 20)
The Dog Days of Summer Golf Classic at McCormick Ranch is a four-person scramble kicking off with a shotgun start at 7:50 a.m. There’s also breakfast, lunch, a silent auction and an awards presentation. Registration fees include greens fees, a tournament shirt, a goody bag, snacks and all on-course contests, and the fee benefits Canine Companions for Independence, a nonprofit that provides assistance dogs and support to those who need them.
Arizona Grand Golf & Grow Tournament (September 27)
The Arizona Grand Golf & Grow Tournament is a two-player shamble (though you can register solo or on teams of two, three or four). With an 8 a.m. shotgun start, this 18-hole tournament offers plenty of prizes – including longest drive, longest putt, closest to pin and a pre-round putting contest.
