If you’re a resident of Scottsdale golf homes or live near Rancho Manana, you’ve probably enjoyed the fine dining experience and exceptional food at Binkley’s Restaurant. Or you’ve at least heard about James Beard Award-nominated Kevin Binkley’s other restaurant ventures in Carefree and mid-town Phoenix. Now thanks to a local brewery with a vision, this five-star food will soon meet fantastic beer.
Proving that it’s more than just a brewery and bar, the Scottsdale Beer Company has recently hired former Binkley’s chef Justin Olsen to take their brew pub menu to a new level.
Olsen started his career at hot spots Binkely’s Restaurant in Cave Creek and Café Bink in Carefree. He sees tremendous growth potential in this new position, taking the already amazing food they’ve been putting out and elevating it.
Scottsdale Beer Company is looking for Olsen to expand the gastro pub’s offerings and include more local produce, make some staples from scratch in the on-site kitchen and partner with local artisan food companies like Schreiner’s Fine Sausages and Sweet Republic ice cream.
Already on the transitional menu are andouille sausage with stone-ground grits, ancient grain-Greek chopped salad and brussels sprouts with honey mustard, roasted peanuts and everyone’s favorite: bacon. Additional dishes will join the menu in the coming weeks and months.
Bringing on Olsen is just part of Scottsdale Beer Company’s grand plan to expand. They have already teamed up with Sweet Republic to create a frozen treat made with SBC beer, and soon Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona guests will be able to order up an SBC draft. In turn, SBC will also incorporate crop ingredients from the Talking Stick and Casino Arizona farms into their brews.
