Top names in women’s golf head to Phoenix for LPGA Tour

The best and brightest in women’s golf are getting ready to tee off in the Valley. The Ladies Professional Golf Association is hosting its sixth annual JTBC Founders Cup at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix.
The premier tournament for women’s golf kicks off March 15 with player practice rounds. A celebrity and professional lineup will pack the Pro-Am on March 16, with Arizona Cardinals players Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson already on board. The four rounds of tournament play run March 17 – 20, 2016.
With the LPGA’s recent office opening in Scottsdale, we expect to see this event continue to grow in popularity and attendance. Last year’s winner Hyo Joo Kim is expected to return to defend her title, alongside other top female golfers like Lydia Jo, Stacy Lewis and Inbee Park.
As one of the premiere LPGA tour stops, the JTBC Founder’s Cup offers $1.5 million in purse winnings and is known as one of the most exciting tournaments in the LPGA. Scott Wood, Tournament Director, describes the tournament as “a can’t miss experience for any golf lover.”
The location is also an important element.
“The Valley is one of the premiere destinations for golf worldwide, making it the ideal place to host this event which honors the women who helped elevate women’s golf,” commented Wood.
More than a great golf game around Arizona golf communities, the tournament will also feature fundraising for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program, a LPGA Lesson Zone, and autograph sessions with the LPGA Founders themselves. The JTBC Founder’s Cup honors the 13 women who started the LPGA 65 years ago. The charity component of the tournament has raised over $3 million, helping to bring ladies’ golf to new markets.
With spring and fantastic Arizona weather comes great golf tournaments like the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the JTBC Founder’s Cup, and more. Arizona golf course communities like Desert Ridge and Grayhawk welcome the prestige and top men’s and women’s golf athletes.
Living in AZ golf homes in these communities puts you even closer to all the action. Contact The Matheson Team to learn more about living in these premiere Valley communities and all the amenities that come along with it!
