Women’s golf takes center stage in Scottsdale with the new LPGA office

The Ladies Professional Golf Association is further confirming Scottsdale’s golf mecca status by opening up an office here in town. The objective of the new local digs is to run the JTBC Founders Cup, as well as to promote women in the sport from a central golf location.
Scott Wood, JTBC Founders Cup Director, is excited about his new home base: “The new office lets us do all tournament planning and allows our team to become more involved in the Scottsdale and Phoenix golfing and business community.” He refers to the new locale as “a place that really showcases the LPGA and Founder Cup.”
In addition to Scott Wood, LPGA staff Tracy Hupko, Sales and Marketing Manager; Taylor Adams, Tournament Coordinator; and Dustin Kaneoya, Director of Operations, will make Scottsdale their home.
The LPGA has had roots in the area for some time as host to the JTBC Founders Cup, an LGPA flagship event. The tournament was originally created to honor the original 13 Founders of the LPGA and to support the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program.
The 2016 tournament marks the sixth anniversary of the event and will be played March 14-20 at the Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa. The four-day, full-field event is also televised and features a $1.5 million purse. The tournament is open to the public and tickets are available online.
The new LPGA office will undoubtedly bring more attention to the sport, female golfers, and to additional LPGA events in the Valley. This is great news to those who live around Desert Ridge, in neighboring Scottsdale golf homes, or who are considering moving into an Arizona golf community. It’s an exciting time to live in nearby golf communities!
