Women join competitors at the 2016 Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships

It’s almost time to don your sophisticated best and take to the greens for the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships. While the event evolves and adds new things from year to year, 2016 marks new territory for the championships. Women will now have the opportunity to team up and take to the fields.

The Women’s Sunset Polo Match has drawn in women from polo clubs all over the nation. Team Stick & Ball will take on Divinas Mujeres during the final match of the on November 5, 2016. Women in these teams are successful and diverse, ranging from models to entrepreneurs and lawyers. But one thing ties them together – their fierce competitive spirit and talent with a mallet. They’ll join together to create teams and take each other on.
This match will mark the first all-female match in the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championship history, undoubtedly a solid step for all women who enjoy playing polo and want to be competitive someday. Chloe Carabasi of Team Stick & Ball is a former college polo player and is excited to step into the spotlight. “I’m glad the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships is bringing polo to Valley, showcasing some of the amazing women I get to play with in this fun sport,” Chloe commented.
The Women’s Sunset Match will be played at 4:30pm, just before the Cultural Concert featuring the Arizona Opera, Scottsdale Philharmonic, local hip-hop artist and a DJ. A post-match part and finale fireworks close the championships down. Here’s a look at the Polo Party’s entire schedule:

12 pm The World’s “Longest” Catwalk Fashion Show, produced by Phoenix Fashion Week
12:30 pm Arizona Polo Club vs. Palm Springs Polo
2 pm The 2016 Canine Couture, produced by Oh My Dog! Boutique and Spa
2:30 pm Palm Beach Polo vs. Aspen Valley Polo Club
4:30 pm The Women’s Sunset Polo Match
4:45 pm The Cultural Concert featuring the Arizona Opera, Scottsdale Philharmonic, Arizona hip-hop artist RoQy TyRaiD and Grammy Awards performer DJ Maestro Hughes

The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses and Horsepower is in its sixth year and takes place at the Polo Field at WestWorld of Scottsdale. The 2015 event drew a record crowd with over 12,000 attendees, probably why the Arizona Republic named the event “polo for the masses.” Emphasizing the theme, additional features of the event include a sneak peek at the Arabian Horse Show and a preview of the 2017 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance and start at just $20 – children 12 and under are free. Or plan to see just the last few matches of the day, including the Women’s Sunset Polo Match, and score a Twilight Ticket for only $10. Of course there are upgrades, parking, tailgating and VIP packages, too.
