The North Phoenix/Scottsdale border near Tatum is an ever-growing, often overlooked part of the Valley of the Sun when it comes to popular neighborhoods. Fireside at Desert Ridge is one of the many communities changing that.

Located just a few minutes from the 101 Pima and 51 freeways junction, Fireside is easy to access by car, but also offers a walkable community.
One of our own Matheson Team members, Jen Pedersen, and her young family live in, play in, and work close to Fireside and everything the area offers. Jen gave us her perspective on what makes this community a great place to call home.
What made you choose to live in Desert Ridge?
We loved the location with easy access to the 101 and 51 and the convenience of restaurants, grocery store, Starbucks and shopping all close by including Desert Ridge Marketplace, High Street and the JW Marriott Resort and Spa.
How would you describe the lifestyle? How is it a good fit for you and your family?
It’s a laid back lifestyle with many families around which is what we wanted so our kids could get to know other kids in the neighborhood.  Fireside has an amazing community center where they host events for the kids and events for the adults so you can get to know your neighbors.  We work out at the community center and go to the park and the pool so it’s great to have those amenities.
How would you describe the PHX/Scottsdale Desert Ridge lifestyle to someone who hasn’t been there before?
Desert Ridge is very family focused.  The schools are great, which is a big draw for this community. There are walking paths and parks which makes getting around very easy.  You can walk to Desert Ridge Marketplace.
Favorite places to dine/shop nearby?
We like Yard House, Kona Grill at High Street and Happy Hour at Ocean Prime as they have a great bar and patio area. We also love the restaurants at the JW Marriot.
What are some of your favorite activities in the area?
It’s fun to take the kids to the Desert Ridge Marketplace to play in the splash pad and get some ice cream at ColdStone.
What else should people know about the neighborhood?
The JW Marriot is right down the street.  They now offer memberships so you can use all the resort facilities (spa, workout, tennis, pool with lazy river) and golf at the Wildfire Golf Club.  They offer memberships ranging from full golf and spa to social memberships.
