Here in the Phoenix area, the weather has cooled to a perfect temperature, the grass is getting to be a deep green and we’re ready to step into Fall golf. If you are looking for a truly novel short course, look no further than the par-3, 18-hole Short Course at Mountain Shadows.

Movie stars and celebrity names have been golfing at Mountain Shadows since the 60’s and it’s just as popular today. In fact, Golf Inc. recently named the short course as the “Renovation of the Year” with its incredible desert setting and its new design and modern features.
The course was completed in February of this year and was designed by Forrest Richardson, the protégé of the original course designer, Jack Snyder. The redesign resulted in a course with a 2,310-yard, par-54 layout comprised of 18 par-3 holes each measuring 86 to 195 yards from the back tees.
The added bonus? Hole 17.5 which is affectionately named The Forrest Wager. The Forrest Wager was designed to determine a tie-breaker or more accurately determine who is buying the first round at Rusty’s. The hole is a par-2 long green and you play the Bingo Bango Bongo golf game against your opponents to determine who buys. You’ll definitely want to book your tee time now because the short course reopens on Monday, October 15th after being closed for a two-week reseeding.
