What is the Scottsdale Open?  It’s a tournament with two-player amateur teams who compete for three days on some of Scottsdale’s finest championship golf courses!  Last year players competed on We-Ko-Pa Cholla , TPC Stadium, and  Grayhawk Raptor.  This year will be a repeat of courses with the exception of We-Ko-Pa being swapped out for Troon North Monument that will definitely save on some drive time and proximity challenges.
You’ll play the same course the pro’s play at The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale!  While its world-famous for its 3-par 16 hole where some of the largest golf crowds in the world congregate to cheer, and quite unbelievably jeer in the game of golf,  you are guaranteed a more tame and mild-mannered experience on the hole.  The Stadium Course was redesigned in 2014 by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf so if you haven’t played these 18-holes in four years, you are in for a new treat!
Troon North’s signature course, The Monument Course, is a 7,028-yard course with large and tricky greens, and some of the most unique tees perched up above the Sonoran desert terrain where your ball drops down on the fairway from above.  Add a little wind and dust in your eye, and even avid players of this course will be shoulder-to-shoulder with first timers! Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed the Monument Course in 1989. Meanwhile, the Raptor at Grayhawk Golf Club is a 7,090 yard 72-par Tom Fazio designed course that is comparable to Troon North courses with long and large greens. Not an easy course to play but a very fun one for team-play!
How is the tournament organized and how do I take home a prize?  It’s broken out into three competitive divisions–Gross, Senior Net, Open Net—and the top three teams in the divisions will take home the goods!   Teams will play their preferred team tee shot each day and Team Best Ball format on the last day with a Count’em All team format for a combined score.   This year, golfers 65 and older will have an edge as they get to play the forward tees! Trophies, prizes, personal bets aside, this is true competitive play with some lasting fun on the 19th holes followed by world-class dining and night life at the end of each day!
