Water is a precious resource here in the Sonoran Desert. Wasting it is not only expensive, but is tough on the environment and our community. That’s exactly what the City of Scottsdale is seeking to help residents with in its new water efficiency workshop series.
The Scottsdale Water – Using it Wisely is an eight-part workshop series free to Scottsdale residents of all gardening and landscaping skill levels. Each series covers a different area of water conservation that can benefit homeowners, renters, property managers and Home Owner’s Associations. Here is a breakdown of the workshops and schedule:

- Landscape Makeover & Rainwater Harvesting – Civic Center Library
- Thursday, October 13, 2016 – 6-8pm
- Drip Irrigation Design & Installation – Civic Center Library
- Saturday, October 15 – 10:30am-1:30pm
- Plant Selection: Right Plant, Right Place – Civic Center Library
- Thursday, October 20 – 6-8pm
- Irrigation Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Repair – Civic Center Library
- Saturday, October 22 – 10:30am-1:30pm
- Take Control of your Landscape Watering – Civic Center Library
- Thursday, October 27 – 6-8pm
- “Smart” Irrigation Controllers – Mustang Library
- Saturday, November 5 – 10:30am-1:30pm
- Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden Tour – Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden at Chaparral Park
- Friday, October 28 – 10am-12pm
Through these workshops, the City of Scottsdale will encourage residents to take advantage of the free tools and services the city offers Scottsdale golf home owners. Reduce consumption, recycle water, plan accordingly and keep costs low – all part of the Scottsdale Water workshop series! Although the workshops are free, advanced registration is required.
