Pitch in to “Keep the Scenic Drive Beautiful Event” Saturday, October 11 | Scottsdale

The Greater Pinnacle Peak Association’s Friends of the Scenic Drive are hosting a “Keep the Scenic Drive Beautiful Event” tomorrow – Saturday, October 11th – from 7:45 am to 9:45 am.  The group is looking for North Scottsdale residents to volunteer for the event.
The Friends of the Scenic Drive have been supporting the City of Scottsdale’s Adopt-a-Road program since 1994.  They are responsible for the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive that incorporates 6 miles of Scottsdale Road from Happy Valley Road to Carefree Highway.

You can sign-up to volunteer on-line, in advance, and/or go to one of two sign-in locations on Saturday morning.
The north sign-in area is on the west side of Scottsdale Road south of Carefree Highway. People who live in Winfield, Rancho Mañana, Terravita, The Boulders, Legend Trail, Desert Mountain, Mirabel and nearby neighborhoods go to this location.
The south sign-in area is on the east side of Scottsdale Road  south of Jomax Road near the scenic drive sign.  People who live in Whisper Rock, Monte de Pax, Troon, Estancia, Bent Tree, Monterra and other nearby neighborhoods go to this location.
The group recommends volunteers wear long sleeves and pants and bring gloves.  Once you’re signed in you’ll be assigned a section of road.
Friends of the Scenic Drive are providing safety vests, pickup sticks and trash bags.  You can have all the coffee, donuts and water you want!
The filled bags are left on the side of the road. The city’s waste management team picks them up on Monday, October 13.
The Matheson Team believes it is efforts like Scottsdale’s Adopt-a-Road program that make Scottsdale special – it not only helps keep our environment cleaner it helps bring our community together and makes our homes even more desirable. Come on out Saturday, October 11th from 7:45 am – 9:45 am and help the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association and the Friends of the Scenic Drive.
