While we know that Scottsdale golf homes and the Phoenix real estate market are doing pretty well in the economic recovery, do you ever wonder where we place on a national scale? S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indexes recently looked at home sales prices from December 2015 through February 2016. The national numbers are positive when compared to month over month, but even stronger when compared to the same time period in 2014 and 2015. The month over month change was a 0.20% increase, which has been right about the average for month over month and small time period comparisons for the last year or so; a slow but steady rise (with a few small falls in there, too).
When looking at year over year changes for December – February, the change was just over a five percent increase. Below are the top 20 cities that S&P/Case-Shiller use as a basis for their national indexing. You can see that Phoenix is toward the center of the pack, yet still ahead of the national average at 6%.
