OK, so you over indulged in the final weeks of 2014 and it’s time to shed those pounds and get back in shape. So why not change it up this Saturday evening? Instead of making reservations for dinner, why not round up some friends and head out for a guided moonlight hike at Spur Cross Conservation Area in Cave Creek. It’s a great way to welcome in 2015 and add a new twist to a Saturday night out.
Moonlight hike at Spur Cross Conservation Area in Cave Creek
The hike takes place this Saturday, January 3rd, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
If you haven’t seen the desert at night, under a full moon, you are in for a real treat. “Mystical” seems to be the word that best describes the experience; “surreal” is a runner-up.
This hike is classified as moderate level and will last approximately 2 hours. Even though the sun will be down, you’ll still want to bring a water bottle. Dress layered for the change in temperature with a jacket and hat, more depending on the weather. An interpretive ranger who works for the park systems will be your guide and the cost is $3.00 a head. You can bring a flashlight, but you will be asked to use in sparingly, if at all.
If this night hike is your first time hiking the Spur Cross Conservation Area we can promise when it’s over you will come back for more. However, if you go back in the daylight ,you won’t recognize much and will be questioning whether or not you were really there. Everything looks different at night.
Pssst…the full moon really falls the next day on the 4th , but we’ll bet you won’t be able to tell a difference.
