Scottsdale and the surrounding communities are known for hosting great golf events, and May 2018 is no exception. There are several golf events scheduled in Scottsdale next month – here’s the scoop.

May 2018 Golf Events in Scottsdale (and Nearby)

If you’re buying a golf course home for sale in Scottsdale, you’ll love knowing that these events are just a short drive away.

May 1 – 2

Arizona Senior Open at McCormick Ranch
The Arizona Senior Open, a 36-hole stroke play event with no cut, is scheduled for May 1 and 2 at McCormick Ranch. All professionals and amateurs who are at least 50 years old by May 1 are eligible to play.

May 7 – 8

AWGA Four-Ball State Championship, Tucson
The AWGA Four-Ball State Championship, open to female amateurs who have been Arizona Women’s Golf Association members for at least 30 days prior to the first day of the tournament. Participants have to be aged 14 or older and have a handicap index no greater than 36.0; those between the ages of 14 and 17 must have a handicap index of 12.0 or lower.
(Tucson is about two hours from Scottsdale, but this event was definitely worth mentioning.)

May 7

U.S. Open Local Qualifier in Rio Verde
The U.S. Open Local Qualifier in Rio Verde, which feeds into the 118th U.S. Open Championship in Southampton, NY from June 14 to June 17, 2018, is at the Tonto Verde Golf and Social Club, on the Ranch Course on May 7.
Other dates and locations include:

May 10: Tucson
May 14: Litchfield Park
May 17: Maricopa

May 21 – 24

Scottsdale AZ Open
The Scottsdale, AZ Open, sponsored by Desert Financial Credit Union, is scheduled for May 21 through the 24th at Talking Stick Golf Club. The event begins with a charity pro-am to benefit the Desert Financial Foundation and concludes with a 54-hole championship that guarantees a $125,000 purse.

May 25 – 28

Thunderbird International Junior
The Thunderbird International Junior, scheduled for May 25 through May 28, is a 54-hole tournament for junior players aged 12 to 19. This tournament will be held at the Grayhawk Golf Club on the Raptor Course in Scottsdale.
