Work is underway on a major expansion on the east side of Scottsdale Fashion Square, along Scottsdale Road and north of Barney’s. Many new tenants are confirmed to be joining the project, hopefully boosting revenue for that side of the mall and creating a new atmosphere of quality as well.
The area under expansion is the former location of Robinsons-May and an accompanying parking garage, both of which were bulldozed in 2007.
Fashion Square, Arizona’s largest mall, already has nearly 2 million square feet of space and over 250 shops. The new building will connect to the rear east mall entrance and extend north, adding more than 130,000 square feet of new development.

One of the confirmed tenants is Harkins Theatre. The two current movie theatres on site at Fashion Square, Camelview 5 and Fashion Square 7, will essentially be combined within this new and improved Fashion Square 14 theatre. It will offer reserved seating, wall-to-wall curved screens, the latest projection and sound systems, expanded menu with “elevated” choices and the Verite Lounge, Harkins’ first lobby lounge with a full bar and outdoor patio seating.
As for the space that Fashion Square 7 is vacating, Macerich is hoping to relocate Desert Stages Theatre into a portion of the space and no concrete plans have been made for the rest of the empty space.
Another known addition to the new wing will be a sporting-goods store, although specifics are currently not available to the public.
