Looking for a mini vacation and a new golfing experience?

This is the perfect time of the year for a day trip down to El Conquistador Golf and Tennis in Oro Valley for some great golf!  Just 10 miles north of the growing metropolis of Tucson you’ll discover pleasant temperatures, attractive surroundings and a lot of rolling hills that provide some of the best eye-candy in the Southwest high desert.

Whether you elect to play 18 holes or go all out and play 36, this Troon-managed facility has two traditionally laid out courses that provide a challenging feat for just about any level of player.  You’ll be excited to learn that the Conquistador course has recently been converted to a Bent Grass course and the Canada course has had a major make-over of its Bermuda Grass offering a variety of putting surfaces.
But the updates haven’t all been on the golf courses, the tennis courts have made way for pickle ball and The Overlook restaurant has had an extensive remodel and offers culinary specials for both the public and its members.  With 31-lighted tennis courts, 4 pickle ball courts, a 52,000 square foot facility that includes 3 pools, a fitness center and daily classes, fee golf on two courses, great dining and a well-appointed golf shop, this may be one of the best day golf trips you’ll experience all summer!
Currently the summer conditions are fantastic on the Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin designed courses and they are even offering some unbeatable specials.  For the months of August and September the Birdies, Burger and a Beer special at El Conquistador includes 18 holes of golf and a burg and ice cold beer at the 19th hole for just $29.  The monsoon special includes 18 holes for only $17 after 2:00 pm; buyer beware since it’s a game of Russian roulette with Mother Nature to get a full afternoon game of golf during the month of August.
There’s plenty to do on the grounds of El Conquistador Golf and Tennis but if you are looking for some night life, hop in the car and take a short drive into Tucson and pick from a list of over 80 restaurants and bars.  Tucson is known for its artsy cafes, music venues and brew pubs, unique shops, souvenir stands and antiques.
