Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles opens new restaurant in Scottsdale

Lo-Lo’s does it again!  Years ago, it was with great relief when Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles first opened their doors in Scottsdale, meaning no more long drives into Phoenix for made-from-scratch soul food. These delectable treats were now at our finger tips but with one major problem, a longer wait for a table.
This fall, Lo-Lo’s opened a brand new, freestanding restaurant with a larger dining area, full-size bar and outdoor patio eating area to accommodate 240 people. They extended their hours as well and are open at 7:00 am for their scrumptious breakfasts.

Known for their signature waffles, fried chicken and burgers, the expansion in seating was met with an expansion of offerings new to the menu — drinks, appetizers and additional entrées.
A popular classic, Betty’s Boob, a chicken breast with waffle and hot syrup washed down with a huge mason jar full of iced red Kool-Aid. Kool-Aid?  Yes, a throwback to those hot summer days when mom handed out thirst quenching drinks on the back patio. But save room for the mouthwatering red velvet pancakes topped with homemade cream cheese icing, served with two sausage patties or three strips of bacon.
Personally I had never heard of waffles and chicken eaten at the same meal. I thought one was eaten at breakfast and the other at dinner. BUT once you’ve tried them together there’s no rationale for how good it is.  Maybe it’s their secret recipes–the freshest chicken, battered with a secret blend of spices only Lo Lo and his father have privy to. The waffle mix is a secret recipe as well, a distinct creamy flavor with hints of cinnamon and warmed maple syrup and butter.
Then there’s the true soul food made on site and served up fresh–Uncle Brotha’s shrimp & grits, Aunt Hattie’s salmon croquettes, collard greens, fried green tomatoes, mac & cheese and much more.
However, it’s no secret that foodies go there to see and be seen by the Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Suns that frequent so often.
Among many awards, Lo-Lo’s was selected as:

The native Arizona owner, Larry “Lo Lo” White is most always at the Phoenix hood location but the Scottsdale restaurant got the next best “thang”, Milak Collins, the food ambassador, interacting with all the guests to make sure they are happy and well-served. When you go, make sure to give him a shout out, it’s part of the Scottsdale experience.
And you better get there soon, my guess is it won’t be long before people are “onto” the new restaurant and a wait list starts up once again.
