Over 8,000 luminaria bags and thousands of white twinkle lights adorn the trails and trees through the gardens of Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Garden at this special time of year in celebration of Las Noches de las Luminarias. This event is sold out nightly, so if you want to experience this magical event, reserve your spot early!
Las Noches de las Luminarias at Desert Botanical Garden
It’s the 37th year of Las Noches de Las Luminarias and one of Arizona’s best-attended holiday events. You can hit the trail right at sunset and stroll with your loved ones or wait until the sun goes down when the magic of dark unveils the beauty of the illuminated.
Once night falls you will meander through the soft elegance and beauty of the desert gardens stumbling across entertainers hidden off the softly lit paths. There are some propane heaters near the performers, but don your gay apparel with some light gloves and scarves to make sure you stay warm.
The cacti and desert plants are transformed with the lighting effects, so whether you have been to the Garden once or on multiple occasions, you haven’t seen this if you haven’t been at night with the luminaries!
Come early and dine at the Garden with the Southwest’s version of Holiday cheer: spiked hot chocolate or cider. In addition to the lights and luminaries, be sure to be a part of the stargazing sponsored by The Phoenix Astronomical Society. This year they are delighted to announce two entry slots at either 5:30 or 7:00 p.m. for the general public (Last year, there may have been a bottleneck for this event so don’t be dissuaded from this unique opportunity.)
Las Noches de las Luminarias will be open to the public (non-members of the Garden) on November 28, 29, December 12–13, 19-23, 26-30, 2014 but tickets always sell out for each night, so purchase yours early so you don’t miss out.
If you wait too long and tickets are unavailable, consider becoming a member when on the nights of December 5 and 6, 2014 Garden members only are gifted with this beautiful viewing.
