Boating is a favorite worldwide sport and leisure activity, and believe it or not, the state of Arizona has one of the highest number of boats per capita in the country, ranked right up there with Florida and Michigan.
The fact that vendor signup for the Lake Havasu Boat Show has exceeded last year’s roster means that this year’s show is going to be bigger than ever. Taking place from April 10 – 12, it’s Arizona’s largest annual boat show, and it’s celebrating its 24th year at the Lake Havasu State Park.
New exhibitors usually mean new boats, or new wakeboards or new boating paraphernalia and if you are a water enthusiast who has to have the latest and greatest, this is the place to find it.
For those power boat racing fans that may be landlocked and can’t get east of the Mississippi, this is your only chance to see Miss Geico, the 2013-14 SBI off shore world champion before she heads down to Key West. She easily exceeds 150+ mph and this is a rare opportunity to meet her up close and personal.
New this year to the boat show is the IJSBA Jettribe PWC WaterCross Race that sports 100 of the fastest watercraft racers with speeds up to 70 mph on the challenge loop – that’s fast!
There’ll be activities for the children, a chili cook-off and salsa competition for the wanna be chefs, a car show for the car enthusiasts put on by the London Bridge Yacht Club, and even a cornhole championship.
Admission is $4.00, and age 6 and under is free! Parking is free but you’ll want to bring some cool hard cash for the two beer gardens and food courts. For those of you that plan on buying a boat, bring your plastic or all the necessary information to finance because boat demos are by appointment on Sunday afternoon, and Monday after the show.
