Holiday giving and donation ideas around Arizona golf communities

Tis the season to decorate Scottsdale golf homes, bake cookies, wrap presents and spend time with family and friends. The holiday season is also the time of year that many people plan their charitable giving and donations.
There are many fantastic local organizations around Arizona golf communities that could use a helping hand, whether it be donations of time, toys or money. Here are a few of our favorite holiday giving ideas:
Adopt a Family, Adult or Senior for the Holidays
The Concerned Citizens for Community Health partners with the United Way to help families, adults with disabilities and seniors have a happy holiday season. Donors are matched up with those in need to help provide meals, presents, personal hygiene items, grocery gift cards, pet items, and even stamps. The CCCH helps over 500 people in need every holiday season. To become a donor or for questions, contact the CCCH.
Scottsdale Cares
Help local residents around Arizona golf course communities stay warm by assisting with their utility bills. This year-round program is a unique way to directly contribute to and immediately make a difference in the lives of your neighbors in need.
Scottsdale Fire Department Toy Drive
The Scottsdale Fire Department holds an annual seasonal toy drive benefiting the Paiute Neighborhood Center Toy Program and other non-profit organizations in need. Simply drop off new, unwrapped toys through Christmas Eve at any Scottsdale Fire Department or at the department headquarters on Indian Bend Road. Presents for teens, like gift cards and movie passes, are especially needed.
Fill Up a Food Bank
The Foothills Food Bank and Resource Center is asking for holiday giving help filling up their Fixin Bags, which go to over 500 local families each month throughout the holiday season. Needed items like stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, French onions, cornbread and Jell-O can be dropped off at The Foothills Food Bank and Resource Center in Cave Creek. St. Mary’s Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul could also use food donations and support this holiday season (and year-round).
Host a Volunteer Party
The City of Scottsdale manages volunteer opportunities throughout the year for individuals and groups. You can volunteer for one-time events or regular commitments. Why not gather your friends and family and host a Volunteer holiday party that gives back directly to your own community?
Not only are the holidays a great time to help your community and families in need, but it really brings home the giving spirit of the season. It’s also a great way to nab last minute tax deductions while putting your extra funds to good use. We at the Matheson Team wish you a holiday season full of warmth, love, and sharing!
