Troon Golf, L.L.C., a privately held company founded by Dana Garmany, has two new investors as of last week, whose access to capital and industry expertise are said to position the company for significant growth.
Troon Golf is headquartered in Scottsdale at the Kierland Commons. We are the Scottsdale real estate experts who make it our job to know the local golf community inside and out. Use AZGolfhomes as a source for local golf industry and real estate information.
The new investors, Kohlberg & Company, L.L.C. and Greg Norman’s company, Great White Shark Enterprises, are buying out investors Starwood and a Goldman Sachs group called Whitehall Street Real Estate Limited Partnership XI who purchased one third of the company in 1999. Dana Garmany remains Chairman and CEO and the largest shareholder.
Troon, L.L.C. owns and manages golf properties around the world and many here in the Valley. Troon is becoming more widely recognized for its approach to property management of resort, public and private clubs.
Troon’s philosophy: Course conditions are paramount but guest services and great food are what makes a club great. Troon defines standard operating processes across their facilities guiding employees in details of the operation.
Many course owners who use Troon for managing property tout the company’s ability to maximize profitability and return on investment.
Kohlberg is an investment firm with holdings in both manufacturing and service companies. Kohlberg invests in recognized brands improving operating performance. Greg Norman’s, Great White Shark Enterprises will bring golf industry expertise to Troon.
Troon’s board will be expanded to include key Kohlberg leaders. Greg Norman is said to have a seat on the new board. We hope that means we’ll see more of Greg in Scottsdale!
