The monsoon storms are starting to subside, the temperature is dropping and pumpkin spice lattes are back in the morning rotation – fall is just around the corner! This is one of the best times of year in Arizona golf communities. While we may not have the dramatic color changes and falling leaves, we have incredible weather and tons of outdoor activities going on every weekend.
Fall also kicks off festival season in the Valley, and there are tons from which to choose.
Here are four fall festivals near Scottsdale golf homes:
Oktoberfest
October 9th – 11th
A signature Tempe Town Lake event, you can take in everything from carnival rides to wiener dog races. Of course the beer will be flowing at multiple beer gardens, including a tent for noted local brewery Four Peaks. Von Hanson’s Meats out of Chandler will also be supplying the tasty old-world style brats. The fun and games are all for a good cause, too – proceeds benefit International Student, Educator and Professional Exchanges and Multi-Cultural Youth Programs.
Arizona Taco Festival
October 17th & 18th
What says Arizona more than a taco festival? This year’s festival will take place at Salt River Fields near Talking Stick on October 17th & 18th. Gates open at 11 am and you can sample $2 tacos from restaurants, food trucks and bars across the Valley. Everyone selling their tacos is competing for a $10,000 cash prize, so be sure to vote for your favorites. Lucha Libra wrestling, cooking classes, tequila bars and live music make it a great place to spend an early fall afternoon.
Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival
November 6th – 8th
A signature Town of Carefree event, the 22nd Fine Art and Wine festival features local artists, craft goods and delectable wine. Admission is just $3 and a wine tasting ticket (good for six samples) with engraved glass is $10. Hours are 10am to 5pm each day. The picturesque high Sonoran desert surrounding Carefree provides the perfect backdrop for this cultural exchange.
Fountain Hills Festival of Arts & Crafts
November 13th – 15th
More than 500 artists and artisans from around the world gather here for one of the largest events of its kind in the Southwest. There’s something for every style and budget, from sculptures to jewelry. Local food, live music and shaded gathering spots make this an ideal way to spend a weekend afternoon. Going strong since 1974, the Fountain Festival is held in downtown Fountain Hills with free admission and free parking.
