Tomorrow is Independence Day and there are so many incredible ways to celebrate the 4th of July! From Tempe to Cave Creek, there’s no shortage of festivals and fireworks going on all over the Valley.
Here’s your go-to guide for wherever you find yourself this year:
East Valley
Tempe Town Lake hosts one of the Valley’s biggest Fourth of July bashes. Festivities start at 5 pm on July 4th and include a fun fest for kids, performances from local talent and Honor Guards, a flyover and plenty of food and drink vendors. Fireworks are scheduled for 8:15 pm. This is a ticketed event for non-military ages 12 and up. Prices and VIP packages vary and are available at Fry’s stores, online and at the gate (unless sold out).
Start celebrating early! Ahwatukee’s Red, White and Boom Fireworks Festival will be Friday, July 3rd at Pecos Park (48th St. and Pecos Road). Family activities, live entertainment and vendors will be on-site from 5-10 pm. This event is free and you can bring your own cooler, though no glass containers are allowed.
Chandler’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular kicks off at 7 pm at Tumbleweed Park (Germann & McQueen roads). The festival is just long enough to get in a DJ and local band before fireworks light up the sky at 9 pm. Pets, blankets, lawn chairs and coolers are permitted, but no alcohol will be allowed. This event is also free, though there is a $5 charge for parking with proceeds benefiting local organizations.
Fourth at the Fountain is a great option for those in Fountain Hills and Scottsdale golf communities who want to keep traffic and crowds to a minimum. A Beer Garden, live entertainment, a parachuting demonstration, bounce houses, water slide and rock climbing wall will all be at the ready at the famous Fountain Park. Just $5 for those 21 and over, everyone else is free and there is no additional charge for the activities. Gates open at 5 pm, and fireworks are slated for 9:30 pm.
Central and West Valley
If you like to celebrate big, plan to attend the Fabulous Phoenix Fourth at Steele Indian School Park (3rd Street and Indian School Road). This free event features local performers, a splash zone, classic car exhibit, a Kids Zone and a Veteran’s Village with resources and workshops. The fun starts at 6 pm with fireworks at 9:30 pm. As one of the state’s largest festivals, plan to arrive early and bring a blanket.
Peoria’s Annual Fourth of July All-American Festival takes place at the Peoria Sports Complex, home to the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres during spring training. They will have two stages for entertainment, but the food eating contests, water slides and corn hole tournament are highlights of this community party. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 on event day. Gates open at 5 pm, fireworks at 9:15 pm.
North Valley
Not to be outdone by the big cities, Cave Creek is hosting two festivals on July 3rd and July 4th. Famed Harold’s Corral (6895 E. Cave Creek Road) is celebrating a day early with a barbeque, two stages of entertainment, a game truck and fireworks. Free for those staying outside, reservations are required for a seat inside the restaurant. Festivities get underway at 5:30pm and fireworks will go off from the hill behind Harold’s just after sunset.
The 4th of July Cave Creek Fireworks & Food Trucks Extravaganza will be held at 6424 E. Cave Creek Road. Just as the name suggests, gourmet food trucks and vendors will sell a variety of fare, including beer and spirits. Great for the entire family, the event also includes water slides, a dunk tank and fireworks directly overhead. Tickets are $8 for kids 2+ and $12 per adult. Veterans get in free.
