Spring in Scottsdale offers both Arizona golf home residents and visitors endless opportunities to get outside and enjoy the prime weather. Once spring training ends, there are a variety of cultural and food festivals that take center stage. One of the most well-known and best festivals to hit is the Scottsdale Culinary Festival slated for April 16-17, 2016.
While there are more formal and thematic events leading up to the weekend, the highlight of the festivities is the Great Arizona Picnic held on Saturday and Sunday. For just $10 admission, you can then purchase tickets to sample food and beverages across 25 acres of Scottsdale’s Civic Center Mall. This is a great way to try a new place or taste test new flavors all in one place.
As with most Scottsdale events, the people watching can keep you entertained for hours. But when you’re taking a break from feasting on the 40 different restaurant offerings, there is live entertainment on three stages (20 bands are scheduled to play), a culinary experience tent, and even a family zone for those wanting to craft it up or take in a magic show.
Food is not the only feature, however. Running alongside the Scottsdale Culinary Festival is the Southwest Festival of Beers. Over 40 breweries will be on hand tapping over 200 different beers for festival goers to sample. Admission is $40 to this festival, but it includes 20 beer samples, a souvenir tasting mug, and admission to the adjacent food fest, although two food trucks will be on hand if you’d rather stay and play in the beer garden. Beer not for you? Specialty liquors, cocktail tents and a wine garden round out the alcoholic offerings in the main festival area.
Tickets to the festival can be purchased online in advance or at entrance gates during the festival. Wear comfortable shoes, roomy clothes and prepare to indulge!
