In November, Desert Mountain, a golf community located at the northern reaches of Scottsdale, launched another luxury activity to its list of amenities— overnight luxury camping. If you’re a member of Desert Mountain, you can sign up to “rough it” with canvas tents with Redwood floors, full bath/shower, running water, plush towels, and complimentary soaps and lotions. There is even an automatic cold water dispenser.

It all takes place back at “The Ranch”, a 33-acre site located at the furthest point in Desert Mountain from Cave Creek Road which is approximately a 15 minute drive (23 if you do the speed limit!) at the very back of the property. The 33 acre site is part of a 3,000 acre section of the community that borders the Tonto National Forest. Desert Mountain in its entirety sits on 8,000 acres.
A firepit outside of the canvas tents is the gathering point once the suns goes down and noises of the night remind everyone that they reside in the middle of a very big desert. Bring your appetite because the experience comes complete with chef-prepared meals.
In the “Outback” they recently added 12-stall stables to the already existing 15 mile private trail system. Horse riding lessons and guided or private horseback rides are a great opportunity to get away from it all. So put down your golf clubs and bring your cowboy boots, hiking boots or mountain bike for some back-to-nature time.
