On Monday, the City of Scottsdale’s Public Affairs Manager, Mike Phillips, wished all residents a Happy Independence Day and provided guidance on fireworks use here in Scottsdale.

There are fireworks restrictions in Scottsdale and surrounding areas. Despite the fact that consumer grade fireworks are permitted in the state, in Scottsdale their use in sensitive areas isn’t allowed.
Fireworks are prohibited on any property located within 1 mile of fragile desert areas including Pinnacle Peak Park and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. For everyone’s safety, fireworks can’t be used on municipal properties including city buildings, parking lots, parks, schools and streets.
The reason for these restrictions is the threat of wildfires. To further reduce the potential of fire, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve is closing Friday, July 4 at 3:00 pm.
“Closed” signs will be posted at trail heads and Scottsdale police, staff and volunteers will patrol the area. The preserve reopens at sunrise on Saturday, July 5th.
Don’t fret, there are plenty of cool options for people looking to experience fireworks up close and personal around the Scottsdale area.
