This summer you’ll be able to saunter into the Carlson Creek Vineyard tasting room and try some of their locally sourced and produced wine. The Wilcox-based winery has been experiencing tremendous success and is leading the way in the Arizona wine industry. This expansion is a great example and will hopefully be modeled by some of the other local wineries.
In fact, the Carlson Creek Vineyard demand has been so great that they are also expanding their Wilcox space. Their new 14,000 square foot building in Wilcox was once a Chevrolet dealership dating back to the 1940’s. This will be where the magic happens – where grapes will be fermented, aged, and bottled. This is also where visitors can taste the wine. Now with the Scottsdale tasting room, wine lovers will not have to make the northern trek to sample the local wine.
According to vineyard co-owner Robert Carlson III, the expansion in both cities was essential to continue a successful operation. “[The expansion] will allow us to serve more guests while also reaching new audiences who may not have made the trip to Willcox or tried our wines at festivals and restaurant partners throughout the state,” Carlson commented.
Carlson Creek Vineyard is not just locally sourced and produced wine, it’s a family-owned company that was started in 2008. Due to the elevation, environment, and soil character; the vineyard’s focus is on France’s Rhone Valley varietals. Recent wines have included Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Syrah, and Sangiovese.
Ready to sniff, swirl, and sample the delightful locally made vino? The Scottsdale tasting room is slated to open this summer (exact date unspecified) at 4142 North Marshall Way in Scottsdale, just North of Indian School Road and East of Goldwater Boulevard. In the works is a custom made 20-foot distressed copper bar, bistro tables, lounging couches, a private tasting and dining room, and retail space.
