The Boulders and Troon North to host 2016 Troon Challenge National Finals

In just a few days, golfers from around the country will gather at two of Scottsdale’s top golf courses for one of the largest amateur competitions in the country.  The Boulders North Course and the Monument Course at Troon North are hosting the 2016 Troon Challenge National Finals set for September 9-11.

2016 Troon Challenge National Finals will be held at The Boulders Golf ClubHole #7Carefree, Arizona

The Boulders Golf Club, Scottsdale, Arizona

As Troon’s biggest amateur golfing series event, over 1,000 golfers are expected to compete in teams of two. The twosomes have competed in regional host tournaments at Troon clubs all over the country and vied to qualify for this event.
To qualify, the teams of two played in regional qualifier tournaments in a modified best ball format, also known as a shamble. Each team member hits a tee-shot, then the team decides which ball is in the best position. From that point, each golfer plays his or her own ball through the hole. The lower score is the team score.
There is a Gross and Net Division in each qualifying tournament. To compete and qualify in the Net Division, both team members have to present a verified handicap – 50% of the Hanidcap Index calculates the total course handicap.
“We’ve had 34 regional qualifiers held at Troon-affiliated courses around the country and now the best-of-the-best, more than 60 teams, are descending on Scottsdale for the National Finals,” commented Troon Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Kris Strauss. “We are proud to host each of the talented finalists.”
The 2016 Troon Challenge National Finals kicks off with a welcome reception before diving into two days and 36 holes of golf in some pretty picturesque Sonoran Desert landscape. Players received a shopping experience courtesy of tournament sponsor Callaway (other sponsors include Imperial Headwear, TRUE Linkswear, Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, Pepsi, SportRx and Birdie Media). Plus they have the chance to win other prizes and be crowned Troon amateur champions!
