The old paradigm of addressing problems and finding solutions came from research, whether it was grant-funded, corporate funded or university and college based funding. What is quickly becoming apparent is that a new paradigm is emerging: one of many partners, creative thinkers and perspectives in an integrative, collaborative approach to pooling solutions and taking action.
Those solutions and actions can even come from an elementary classroom or a retired community leader, and that is why a week-long series of events designed to integrate the community into helping with the solutions to some our most challenging issues here on the planet is being spear-headed by Arizona State University with this year’s focus on the family, community, business and education to (Re) Imagine your World.
The festival is anchored by the annual GreenBiz Forum and they know that going it alone is a theme of the past with true answers found through partnerships. Three leading sustainability organizations, GreenBiz Group, The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) and the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives , are pooling their resources and expertise in a collaborative effort to do just that.
This weeklong series of events across the Valley will take place February 16th through 22nd at various locations–Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Tempe, and Chandler — as a way of including the whole community, not just one central location.
Some community event highlights:
- Family Day at the Arizona Science Center
- “If You Build It” and “Chasing Ice” – documentaries to inspire and activate
- Sustainability Solutions Celebration at the Desert Botanical Garden
But no week-long event is not complete without a festival finale and the Sustival will take place at the Civic Space Park in Phoenix with local bands, local food, and you guessed it, the locals.
Success is all about the power of partnerships, and that’s what (RE) Imagine your World is all about.
