Aspiring golfers to take aim at the GenNXT Golf Academy in Scottsdale

As a golfer’s paradise, Scottsdale is a natural home base for pro shops, golf resorts and top Arizona golf communities. Beginning on January 5, Scottsdale will also play host to the Southwest’s first high performance golf academy specifically built for juniors ages 14-18.
The GenNXT Golf Academy is the brainchild of four golf professionals who each lead their field in the world of golf. Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott of VISION54, Dr. Rick Jensen of the Dr. Rick Jensen Performance Center at PGA National, and world golf coach and Canadian Henry Brunton have joined forces to create this trailblazing program. This same team has selected the spectacular Talking Stick Golf Club as home base.
The benefits of bringing together four professionals? Collective experiences and expertise that can work together to provide top notch coaching, training and sports science support. This three-prong approach will truly create a world class athlete development program for aspiring young golfers.
Who is the program for? The academy will cater to elite golfers 14+ who aspire to one day compete at the national and international levels in the NCAA and the PGA or LPGA Tour. Interested athletes must apply to be accepted to the program and include two letters of recommendation from a PGA/LPGA professional or Golf Federation Official regarding his or her golf experience and character.
Like a private school and training camp combined, the academy is designed primarily as a full-time residential program for both boys and girls. Student-athletes will have the opportunity to participate for one month (as space allows), one semester, or one full school year. Priority is given to those who apply for one semester or one full year. While one month and one semester programs begin the first of the year, the first full school year class will start on August 22, 2016.
For those student-athletes choosing a semester or full year program, the juniors and their families may select between three local academic academies, including one fully online academic program. Likewise, the students will have three options for housing, depending on availability. The Academy has partnered with the nearby Marriott Courtyard and they have designed the entire second floor of the hotel to accommodate high school students, including 24-hour security and supervision, all meals, and transportation. GenNXT will also have a Golf House, or students can opt to stay with a local host family if one is available.
The GenNXT Golf Academy is an exciting prospect for the entire Southwest golf community, but especially for Scottsdale and the Talking Stick area. Keep your eyes peeled for the athletes who come out of this incredible training program, as there are sure to be some golf super stars in the wings!
