The Arizona Balloon Classic takes to the air with food, shopping and a lot of “air” time over Phoenix with three days of extreme fun. Given that Arizona is host to the Super Bowl, you guessed it, there’s even a hot air balloon in the shape of a football.

Your options to fly are many: paramotor flights, a 200 foot zip line and, of course, hot air balloons are experiences for the gutsy ones. The rest of us can safely watch from the sidelines as today starts off the festivities with the “Hare & Hound” competitive balloon race launch followed by “Team Paradrenalin” Fly Boyz, the paramotor demonstration.
But if you miss the Fly Boyz, don’t worry, they perform Saturday and Sunday as well. Saturday is a full-day of amazing activities with gates opening at 7:00 am and culminating with “Fireworks Spectacular” at 7:45 pm. And Sunday winds down the fest with a half day of fun until noon when the gates close.
Each evening enjoy the “Desert Glow” as the tethered hot air balloons illuminate the sky to sounds of music. Walking below these majestic monoliths is akin to being a kid in a field of giant glowing mystical toys.
If you clearly aren’t one to sit on the sidelines but still want your feet firmly planted on the ground, why not volunteer as a member of the chase team? Many mornings pilots are looking for additional chase members due to “no shows” as their hands are full preparing for lift-off, checking equipment and ropes in preparation for their grand ascent to the sky. But get there early and and check in with the pilots or their team members.
So set your alarm and head out to Fear Farm Sports and Entertainment Complex located at the Loop 101 and I-10 in Phoenix. The early bird gets the worm and you can still get a screaming deal on tickets on Groupon through today.
