APS Electric Lights Parade Saturday, December 6th at 7:00 pm | Phoenix

Every holiday season, Arizona Public Service (APS) hosts Phoenix’s annual electric lights parade. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th at 7:00 pm.
The theme is “Holidays in Toyland” and more than 60 floats, marching bands and community groups will be decked out in lights for the parade.  Mickey Mouse is the Grand Marshall and APS’s clown troop will be the guides along the parade route that attracts 80,000 spectators each year.

The 2-mile parade route starts at Central Ave and Montebello.  It proceeds south to Camelback, east to 7th Street, and south to Indian School.  It’s the only evening parade held in Phoenix!
The 60 floats, marching bands and community groups are competing to win parade awards in 4 categories: Originality, Quality, Theme and Overall.
Floats are home-crafted by local families, non-profit groups, companies, city departments and marching bands. There’s live music, tons of lights, costumes and huge balloons too.
The parade takes place rain or shine. Seats along the parade route are on a first-come-first-served basis, and people typically start arriving around 5:30 pm to get seats.
Admission is free and parking is free. To avoid traffic, take the Metro Light Rail to the Central and Camelback stop.
Bring your family, friends, chairs, blankets and coolers (no alcohol or glass permitted) for a fun, festive and de-light-ful evening in town.
