5 Design Trends to Watch in 2019
When you buy a new golf course home for sale in Scottsdale, one of the first things on your To-Do list is to decorate – but what’s hot, what’s trending, and what’s not for 2019? This guide to the latest home trends will give you all the inspiration you need to decorate your home the right way.

5 Design Trends to Watch in 2019

Paint colors, furnishings and the way you style your space all affect the way you feel while you’re in it, so check out these trends expert designers are predicting for 2019 and see what really fits your style.

#1: Sculptural Art

Sculptural art doesn’t necessarily mean big sculptures – it can mean shaped accent pieces, tables with interestingly sculpted legs and even light fixtures that deviate from standard shapes. The key to using sculptural art is to choose pieces that add height, texture or contrast.
Wall sculptures keep your floor space free, while floor sculptures add a certain “wow” factor to your design.

#2: Unexpected Materials

Putting a twist on your décor by choosing unexpected materials – including carbon fiber, algae turned into bioplastics, rope and others – can make a big statement. It’s not so much about the materials as it is about adding various textures to your space. Even visually, textures can make a huge impact on the way your space feels. For example, experts suggest choosing an ultra-soft accessory in a room with hard lines, like an ultra-modern living room punctuated with a faux-bearskin rug or fluffy, round pillows on the sofa.

#3: Going All-Out With Tile

Carpet’s been on a downward spiral for a while now, but it’s traditionally been replaced with hardwoods and laminate. But tile featuring unique patterns (square and rectangular tiles are still good, too) and contrasting grout colors is growing in popularity. Even more popular: tile featuring unique shapes that add incredible style from the bathroom to the living room.

#4: Wallpapered Ceilings

Wallpaper falls in and out of fashion every few years – but that’s when it comes to standard use. Now, designers are seeing an increasing trend toward putting it on ceilings, where it adds color and style without overwhelming the room (or crowding out other décor). You can choose pre-pasted, wall-paste or peel-and-stick papers when you hire a pro to come in and revamp your ceilings.

#5: High-Contrast Kitchens

Vibrantly colored cabinets are making a big splash in the design world right now, and the more contrast, the better. Think dark blue cabinetry with stainless steel hardware, or black countertops to complement red cabinets. There’s no hard-and-fast rule about what colors to use, but if you’re going to use more than one shade of the same color, aim for darker colors on the bottom and lighter ones on the top.
