The Ancala Golf & Country Club opened in 1991. Designed by Pete Dye, Ancala is a target-style golf course. At nearly 7,000-yards and a slope of 152 from the back tees, it is truly one of the most challenging courses available in the state. Yet, because the course has 5 sets of tees it offers a variety of playing options for golfers of all skill sets.
Highlights of the course include desert and mountain views, well-kept fairways and undulating greens. Amenities include full clubhouse, tennis, fitness and pool.
2. The Country Club at DC Ranch

The Country Club at DC Ranch is an 18-hole, par-71 tract designed by Tom Lehman and John Fought. Golfers have stunning views of the desert landscape, the McDowell Mountains and the city on every hole.
In 2014, the club hosted both the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Open qualifier events. It is a candidate to host these and other USGA events in the future.
The clubhouse is ‘cowboy casual’ with fine dining, a mixed grill and bar. Membership includes swimming, fitness and a very active tennis program on its 6 courts.
Expansion and renovation are underway at The Country Club at DC Ranch. The course green side bunkers have just been completed, the clubhouse is going through an expansion; and improvements to the Tennis areas are also taking place. The club remains open with regular hours of operation.
3. Desert Highlands Golf Club

Desert Highlands was the first community to ever be built around a golf course and it is said to have been the model for many other golf communities. Membership at Desert Highlands Golf Club is limited to property owners in the community, and every resident is a member.
The championship golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus’ development group. It is a par 72, 18-hole golf course and is 7,108-yards from the tips. The course was the home of the first ever skins game where – Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Gary Player duked it out.
In addition to the golf course, members enjoy 13 grass and hard surface tennis courts, clubhouse, swimming pool and state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center.

Desert Mountain is the only club in the world to have 6 Championship Jack Nicklaus Signature courses on-site. It’s the annual home to the Schwab Cup, a PGA event attracting the top golfers in the world.

The course was rated as Golf Digest’s Number 1 private golf course in 2014 and in the America’s Top 100 Golf Courses in 2013.

Pinnacle Peak’s golf course is a tree-lined, walkable, par-72 and has a parkland-style layout. The course was designed by Dick Turner and is 7,030 yards from the tips, with slopes ranging from 113 to 138. It has dramatic views, target-golf fairways and bent-grass greens.
Amenities of the Club include lighted tennis courts, a fitness center, a large heated lap pool, and full access to all clubhouse and social activities.
7. Terravita Golf Club

Terravita golf course was designed by Greg Nash and Billy Casper. At its longest and hardest, the course is 7,075 yards with a slope of 141 and, at its simplest, 5,283 yards with a slope of 121.

9. Troon Golf and Country Club

Troon Country Club was the first golf course to be designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf. Weiskopf won the 1973 Open at Royal Troon in Scotland, and when he and Morrish designed Troon Country Club’s course, they incorporated many of the features seen at its Scotland namesake.
