The course itself was designed with the help of golf legend Fred Couples and challenges even the greatest golf players. Yet, it still produces a memorable day of golf for the novice player. To pay tribute to the game’s links-land courses, the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes course was strategically built with natural grasses and rugged land forms. Flashed-up bunkers are placed around the course to challenge the players and encourage them to hit their drivers on every hole. Smaller, green complexes place an emphasis on precision, improving golfer’s small shots games.
Hole number 16 of the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club was an Honorary Inductee into the Golf Hole Hall of Fame in 2011. This hole was inducted due to it’s well thought-out design that leaves the golfer with many choices for approaching it. The entire club was recently honored as one of GOLF Magazine’s “100 Courses You Can Play” list, coming in at number 84.

The outdoor living area of the Clubhouse provides the alluring view of the 9th and 18th greens with the mountainous backdrop. This golf course blends the natural beauty of the outside Arizona golf community with the rustic indoors. The walls of The Arroyo Grille open up, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The Hemapda Ki banquet room, meaning “the meeting place,” is the perfect venue for any occasion: weddings, parties, corporate functions, meetings, etc. The professional staff can cater to any event request. While the Club doesn’t have a physical store located on site, they do offer an online store where their custom apparel line is sold, along with custom glass barware.
Not only does the Club offer hosting and catering for special events, it is also one of the sites for the United States Open Qualifying. Since 2014, the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes has also hosted the Saguaro Ametuer Golf Tournament, encouraging amateur golfers to improve their game while partaking in friendly competition. Plus, the Club also has it’s very own Junior Program to promote the game of golf.
