Fountain Hills Thanksgiving Day Parade – the only one in Arizona!

Who doesn’t love a parade?  Touted as the only Thanksgiving Day parade in Arizona and one of only two west of the Mississippi, the Fountain Hills Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a holiday prelude in the Valley since 1988.
The Fountain Hills parade, also known as Parade of the Hills or Parada de Los Cerros, is set to begin on Thanksgiving morning, November 27th at 9:00 am.  The route starts at Saguaro and El Lago Boulevard in Fountain Hills.

The parade route is next to the town’s famous fountain.  The procession lasts about 2 hours.
Typically about 90 entrants steer, maneuver and march through the parade. Locals enter home-crafted floats, and businesses leaders, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Veterans participate. Firemen, classic cars, school groups, marching bands, baton twirlers, dancers, motorcyclists, the Wells Fargo Wagon and clowns turn out in high style.
There are two special guests every year: Fountain Hills’ own Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and, all the way from the North Pole, Santa Claus.
Sheriff Joe and his wife Ava motor along in a convertible with a sizable posse in tow. Santa is greeted at the end of the parade route to usher in the start of the holiday season.
